Brunswick County Economic Development Foundation, Inc. d/b/a Brunswick Business & Industry Development is seeking energetic, innovative, and knowledgeable applicants for the position of Office Manager. This is a professional position as part of a team to facilitate Economic Development within Brunswick County. This position, under general supervision, performs a variety of accounting, clerical and administrative duties for Brunswick Business & Industry Development. Work involves providing administrative support to the Executive Director; general office oversight; attend board meetings, and other meetings as needed, and transcribe meeting minutes for approval by the Board of Directors; verification, reconciliation, analysis and report preparation associated with bookkeeping and accounting procedures. Review and process invoices for payment, preparing and maintaining payroll and records, including the filing of monthly reports associated with payroll. Position also assists with marketing and public relations activities. Employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public. Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing assignments. Employee must also adhere to strict confidentiality requirements. This position reports to the Executive Director. Hiring Range: $40,000 – $48,000.
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree in accounting and 1 to 2 years of experience in secretarial and clerical work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience and/or general knowledge of economic development helpful, but not required.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of office machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, copiers, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, forms, reports, invoices, budgets, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, payroll forms, etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control and confidence.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.) Must be able to communicate via a telephone.
