Since February 2nd, 2012 when the Brunswick County Economic Development Foundation, Inc., dba Brunswick Business & Industry Development (BBID), was incorporated and its dedication to economic development has remained unwavering.
Specifically serving economic base industries, those whose products and services are produced locally and sold outside of our community bringing new money into the local economy.
Over the last two decades, there has been a remarkable transformation in Brunswick County and the greater region including Wilmington, NC, and Myrtle Beach, SC.
Today, Brunswick County is North Carolina’s fastest-growing county 10 years running and 4th fastest in the U.S. becoming a vibrant magnet filled with talented people who have an undeniable spirit. Our economy is strong, resources abundant, and our quality of life is second to none.
Our accomplishments are a direct reflection of our partnership and to the cooperation and support of local elected officials and business leaders throughout the Greater Brunswick County region.
Unprecedented growth is expected to continue due in part to strategic investments made throughout the region.
First being Interstate-140 providing Brunswick County direct access to the nation’s interstate system, second being the Port of Wilmington’s expansion of it’s turning basin allowing the port to accommodate ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs) with a length of 1,200 feet, and third the County’s $41M push to complete the Northeast Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion and associated transmission force mains serving the HWY 74/76 corridor providing industry the foundations absolute to expand and locate to the area.
We have no doubt that through concentrated efforts and the selfless dedication of resource partners our united communities will continue to flourish making way for strategic growth, and an increasingly balanced economy.
